Most everyone I know call them mud trout, and thats all my father and Uncle Joe ever called them. Like Brandon said, "its just habbit" more than anything.

Thanks for the info john. Now i know why at home in a small brook why there is so many trout trying to get up this small river. I not talking about just a few, like 1000's at once and the river is only 2' wide. The trout are there at the end of the pond like someting crazy. Tony and i are going there next weekend i will take a video of all the trout there. You woun't beleve your eye's.lol

i call them mud trout to and its just habbit , but everyone i know woulde rather them over any other fish js .

haha well said, John.  I am famous for calling them mud trout, but brook(ies) trout is the way to go!

Salmon parr (I) can normally be distinguished from young brown/sea trout (II) by the more streamlined shape, deeply forked tail, longer pectoral fin, lack of orange on adipose fin, smaller mouth, sharper snout, only 1-4 spots on gill cover (often one large spot), well defined parr marks.
