Practice does make perfect with a fly rod, one tip for you is to buy a good quality fly line, it will make all the diffrence for you casting. I use the cortland with a rocket taper, it will cost you a little extra money but well worth it. If you find a nice open pond with no trees behind you on the shore it would be a good spot to practice, then move on to the rivers and tighter areas.
Exactly Brandon, the best way to learn to fly fish, is to get out there and have fun!
