Correction in Angler's Guide!
FISHERIES AND OCEANS CANADA

NOTICE TO ANGLERS

na.11.007 May. 26, 2011 DFO Advises Anglers Of a Correction To The 2011-2012 Angler's Guide Anglers are advised of an error in the 2011-2012 Angler's Guide.

On page 4, titled Retention Limits, the section for Unclassified Rivers (Zone 1 & 2) references Green tag #4 for Large Salmon. This line should be deleted, as retentionof large salmon (greater than 63 centimetres) is no longer permitted in the recreational salmon fishery.

A corrected version on the 2011-2012 Angler's Guide is available on-line at www.nfl.dfo-mpo.gc.ca

Hey Scott!

Best place to fish early in the season would be Southwest Brook toward Stephenville. There is always an ealry run on that river. I have had good luck there from opening day well into late June. Usually the water levels in the Lower Humber are super high this time of year. Big Falls and Little Falls on the Upper Humber are an option but again water might be a bit high but fishable. It's is calling for rain here in Corner Brook all this week. So it won't help the water levels too much.

Southwest Brook is about 30 min drive west of Corner Brook. I think you would have your best chance there early in the season. You can fish on either side of the bridge on the TCH or you can take the Burgeo Highway and fish along the road upriver.

Hope this helps...Let me know if you need directions.

My how Phil has grown since his first trips here! Great to see his Dad is persistent in getting him fishing here each year. How's his fishing and casting skills developing John?
