Group Calls For Better Moose Management

A group of anglers and hunters has launched a petition calling on the provincial government to take a responsible approach to moose management.  The group, which is concerned about the emotional response to moose-vehicle collisions in the province, argues that the provincial government has to take serious measures to ensure the moose population doesn't continue to decline.  On VOCM Backtalk with Paddy Daly, Edward Smith said people have to take a greater responsibility and accept that we share the environment with wildlife. He says government also needs to reduce the number of moose licenses being handed out.

Smith denies claims by groups like SOPAC that he represents outfitters.  He says his group consists of regular anglers and hunters who are concerned about the decline in the moose population.

You know if he did represent all outfitters, what would be so wrong with that. At least someone is speaking up about our moose decline.
