Middle Cove Beach is abuzz today, now that the capelin are rolling. Children and parents, fishermen and tourists have all come down to Middle Cove -- some for sport, others just for fun. The capelin aren't just attracting people; flocks of gulls have been drawn to the area, and whales are also getting in on the bounty, all of which iis adding to the spectacle for residents and tourists alike.
All that activity is causing a few problems for traffic in the area. Mayor of Logy Bay, Middle Cove, Outer Cove John Kennedy says there were close to 400 vehicles in the area last night. Kennedy is asking people not to park on the side of the road closest to the ocean. On VOCM Open Line with Randy Simms this morning, Kennedy said signs are up advising motorists to use the opposite side.
