So, I am planning for my first black bear hunt once I get my papers come. Is it necessary to use a tree stand? Is a ground blind just as effective? If so how does one go about building a black bear blind. I have a couple areas picked out fro baiting, two of them are next to cut overs, and one is just off a small field by a pond.
This is a response to an old post by Randy Jarvis regarding hunting areas for bear. I would agree with three hunting areas for bear but better yet, one. It does not seem to help in bear managment to have so many hunting areas. It is a source of revenue for the ministry. One or three bear management areas would give us more range in our hunting of bears. In Ontario you buy one tag and you can hunt bear anywhere you are allowed to hunt bears with that one tag.
was their any one out bear hunting this pass weekend??
Have anyone heard that you can aproximate the weight of a bear by the size of it's track? 50 lb per inch, that would make this one 250lb???
Makes sence to me, Randy.
What do you think of three hunting areas for black bear east central and west ?Instead of it been lumped in with moose areas you would have a better chance of baging a bear.
