The fall recreational groundfish fishery in the province begins on Saturday. The fishery will be open in all areas around Newfoundland and Labrador except in the Eastport and Gilbert Bay Marine Protected Areas. Management measures will be the same as in 2011, including a daily bag limit of five groundfish per day including cod, and a maximum boat limit of 15 fish when three or more people are fishing. I was talking to Ruth Cluett , Garnish town clerk, yesterday and she told me that the new rules governing the use of ATV's on the town roads is going very well and they are going to continue. She said that since the new rules came into effect the attitude of motorists and ATVers , toward each other , have certainly changed for the better. I THINK ITS TIME WE TAKE A LONG LOOK AT THE FUTURE OF MOOSE HUNTING IN NFLD! I HAD A BULL ONLY LICENSE LAST YEAR THAT WASNT FILLED AND I SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN THE WOODS IN AREA 36 SOUTHERN SHORE! I DIDNT SEE MANY ANIMALS AND I COVERED A LOT OF GROUND. MY BUDDY CURTIS ALSO HAD A BULL ONLY LICENSE THAT WASNT FILLED! MAYBE THERE IS NOT AS MANY MOOSE HERE IN NFLD THAT EVERYBODY THINKS! MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE LESS LICENSES ISSUED OR OUR MOOSE POPULATION IS GOING TO BE ENDANDERED!

just arrived to the east coast. ive been a member for about a year, but livin on the wast coast. im here now and birdin opens in the morning. that means im goin huntin in the morning but would perfur to go with someone from the area. anyone interested in lettin me tag along, or tellin me a half decent area close to cbs that i can go myself.

A lynx that escaped Salmonier Nature Park during Tropical Storm Leslie is still on the missing list. The park is closed due to signficant damage caused by the storm on Tuesday. Fences around animal enclosures were blown down resulting in some moose and caribou getting out during Leslie. They were all returned to their enclosures not long after by park officials.

There were a couple of meetings in Glovertown to address the black bear issue in the region and while most of those who attended the sessions were not totally satisfied, they are going to give the government plans a try for a couple of weeks.
